Drug Uses
Luvox is used to treat obsessive–compulsive disorder (OSD). It may also be used to treat depression and other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How Taken
Use Luvox as directed by your doctor. To avoid stomach upset take Luvox with a meal. It is advised to take the medicine at the same time each day. It may take 4 weeks or more for you to start feeling better.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Storage
Store Luvox at 59 – 86 °F (15 –30 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Luvox out of the reach of children.

More Information
Luvox may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may worsen if Luvox is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Luvox with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Luvox should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Luvox, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Luvox, if you have liver disease, seizures or epilepsy, bipolar disorder (manic depression), or a history of drug abuse or suicidal thoughts. If you plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy, especially during the third trimester. Luvox passes into breast milk. Do not breast–feed while taking this medicine. Some medicines may interact with Capoten. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Do not take Tofranil if you have taken furazolidone or a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor (eg, phenelzine) within the last 14 days. Antidepressants can increase suicidal thoughts and behaviors in some children and teenagers. This risk may be higher in individuals with bipolar illness (also called manic–depressive illness), a family history of bipolar illness, or a history of attempting suicide. You should pay close attention to changes in moods or actions, especially if changes occur suddenly.

Contact your doctor right away if any of the following effects occur or worsen- depression, anxiety, restlessness or irritability, panic attacks, thoughts or attempts of suicide, or other unusual changes in behavior or mood. Do not use Luvox in children younger than 8 years of age. Safety and effectiveness in this age group have not been confirmed. Use Luvox with extreme caution in children between 8 and 18 years of age. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the effects of Luvox and might require a lower dose.
Possible Side Effects

Some of the Possible Side Effects are- Change in taste, changes in sexual function, chills, constipation, delayed ejaculation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue, flu–like symptoms, flushing, frequent urination, gas, headache, impotence, inability to have an orgasm, indigestion, lightheadedness, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, sweating, tiredness, tooth disorder, vomiting, weakness.

Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately- allergic reactions (rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), bizarre behavior, difficulty swallowing, fast heartbeat, fever, impulsive behavior or other unusual changes in behavior, mental or mood changes (eg, agitation, panic, hostility, irritability), pounding in the chest, seizures, severe nervousness or anxiety, severe restlessness, sleeplessness, suicidal thoughts or behaviors, tremor, vision problems, worsening of depression.
