Avana (generic name: avanafil; brand names include: Stendra) is a new ED (erectile dysfunction) medicine in the class of drugs called PDE5 inhibitors with a faster onset of action.
It was approved by the FDA on April 27, 2012.
Avanafil is similar to Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis and helps achieve and sustain an erection.
However studies show that it can provide faster onset of action - about 15 minutes.
Other advantages of the new drug include high efficacy and less side effects compared with other ED drugs.
Generic Stendra is available under the brand name Avana manufactured by Sunrise.
Recommendations
Follow the directions foe using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take your medicine exactly as directed.
The usual recommendation is one pill taken about 30 minutes before sexual activity. It can be taken with or without food.
Do not take Stendra or its generic equivalents more than 1 time a day. Do not drink too much alcohol when taking Stendra or its generic equivalents because it can increase your chances of getting a headache or getting dizzy, increasing your heart rate, or lowering your blood pressure.
Precautions
Do not take avanafil if you take any medicines called "nitrates", or use street drugs called "poppers" such as amyl nitrate and butyl nitrate.
